Mike Green retired in 2004, having spent most of his career as a practising opthalmic optician in Northamptonshire. Mike has fished in the UK and abroad for most of his life, catching all manner of species in the UK, Canada, Alaska, New Zealand, Asia and Americas.
In recent years Mike has become a self-confessed pike fanatic. He loves nothing more than working his way down the bank of his beloved River Nene in Northamptonshire, flicking out a pike fly. In 2009 Mike caught the fish of a lifetime - a pike of 40lbs 8oz, which he caught on fly at Bristol's Chew Valley Lake - at the time the lake record.
Once retired, Mike started his own fishing blog, www.luckygreens.co.uk, recording his escapades both at home, mainly fly fishing for pike, and abroad, chasing saltwater species like tarpon, GTs and bonefish. Mike was the first fishing writer to join drowningworms.com in 2013.
