This 333 acre lake is situated in a heavily wooded forest just a few hours North of Berlin. Reportedly, there are large carp in the lake well into the double figures. However, there are also many other species such as Pike and Catfish, so you best be prepared for anything. This venue is probably best suited for the rugged outdoorsman and experienced boater because there are no established swims on this lake and the shores are not easy to access by foot. Boating is recommended.

Prices are very reasonable though – you can expect prices between 10 and 20 euro for day tickets while boat rental and night fishing are also available for an additional, but modest, fee.

Big Carp Lake – Canow (Berlin, North East Germany)

Secluded in the middle of a large preserve, this 33 acre lake offers 7 distinct swims for a maximum of 2 anglers. Some of the swims are easily accessible by foot while others (moored pontoons) are accessible only by boat. You better be up to a challenge to fish these waters, given that there is a relatively low stock of carp given the vastness of the lake – only about 70 commons and a few grass carp live here. However, the average weight is about 30 lbs for the commons and 20lbs for the Grass, with the record fish being a common near 50lbs.

There are boat rentals, lodgings and a restaurant nearby. With the limited number of fisherman permitted on any given day, you best reserve in advance. Prices are as follows: Day ticket per angler = 70,00 €; 2 day ticket = 130 €; 1 week = 300 €; 2 week = 500 €
