At 122cm long, this barramundi almost won’t fit in the net

This video shows Rodney Collings fly fishing for huge Barramundi with Queensland fishing guide Andy Thomsen. You can see a large barramundi tailing in the shallows and the guys decide to creep in on their fishing skiff for a few casts. Although Andy doesn’t catch the take on film, Rodney hooks a very large barra along a shallow weed edge. Once Andy gets the camera rolling there’s some great footage of the fight.

When they finally get it to the boat, it’s clear that the fish is almost too big for the net – it’s a monster at 1 metre 22cm.

As Andy says more than once: “Holy shit!”

Andy run’s a fishing charter business – Andy’s Fishing Charters.
