Fishing with Sam

Keep working him - fishing joke

I have been so blessed in my life: great parents, great wife and kids, great job, and a great education. When I finally retired, I could hardly wait to spend time enjoying my favorite pastime – fishing.

I got my own little fishing boat and some new tackle; I even tried to get my wife to join me… but she refused. She never did like fishing.

Most of the time I fished alone, until one day at the tackle shop, I got talking to Sam, the shop owner. It turned out that Sam loved fishing as much as I did! That suited me perfectly and we quickly became fishing buddies.

As I said, the wife doesn’t care about fishing; she not only refuses to join us, she always complains that I spend too much time fishing.

A few weeks ago Sam and I had the best fishing trip ever. We both caught a dozen redfish, including some real whoppers. One of Sam’s was an absolute monster! I took a picture and showed it to the wife, hoping that maybe she’d get interested.

Instead, she says she doesn’t want me to go fishing again at all! Ever! AND she wants me to sell the boat!

It’s totally unbelievable and, deep down, I think she just doesn’t like to see me enjoying myself. What would you do: tell the wife to forget it and continue my hobby or quit fishing and sell the boat as she insists?

In case it helps, I’ve included the picture of Sam….

Girl and the giant fish

James Green About James Green

James Green loves nothing more than casting a fly in pursuit of salmon, seatrout or, when the opportunity arises, a tailing bonefish, tarpon or permit.
