The Lifetime Sport Fisher Tandem Kayak is one of the most stable and durable tandem kayaks on the market. Aside from its weight, there’s really nothing to dislike about it. The Sport Fisher is probably one of the most popular tandem kayaks you’ll find, and for good reason. It offers a great combination of stability, toughness and carrying capacity. It’s also great to use with a motor.

The Lifetime Sport Fisher Tandem Kayak was revolutionary when it was launched, and may today still be the market leading tandem sit-on kayak. Capable of accommodating three people, it’s the tank of the kayak world. OK, it’s not the fastest, and it helps is you have two people for loading and unloading, but once it’s on the water, nothing else comes close stability-wise. The SPort Fisher also provides four fishing pole holders and a range of other features, many of which have the angler in mind.
Pros of Lifetime Sport Fisher Tandem Kayak
- Very sturdy
- Easy to use
- Integrated paddle and rod holders
- High seating position keeps you dry, and multiple footrests keep you comfortable
- Can be used tandem or solo
- Ample storage space
- Paddles included
Cons of Lifetime Sport Fisher Tandem Kayak
- Heavy and difficult to load/transport
- Slow through the water
- ‘Seats’ are really just backrests, so it’s not exactly designed for comfort
- It’s not the cheapest, but bear in mind this includes two paddles
- Although it can carry three people’s weight, this is not a big kayak, so fitting them on is another matter!
- Doesn’t track well with multiple passengers
The best feature of the Lifetime Sport Fisher tandem kayak is its huge carrying capacity. This boat accommodates three people with ease. It’s rated to 500 pounds, but can take more if needed, without breaking a sweat.
The worst feature of the Lifetime Sport Fisher tandem kayak is its weight. As a result of its bulk, it’s pretty cumbersome to shift around and to load/unload. It’s also slow through the water. Nevertheless, 60 pounds is no heavier than some of the other tandem kayaks we’ve reviewed, so unless you’re looking to break speed records, this may not be an issue.
My Personal Tips
Depending on what you plan to use it for, this is a kayak we’d feel happy recommending. If you want a boat you can squeeze the whole family on, look no further – you won’t do better than this. It offers a great combination of family fun, fishing and day boat. You can also attach a motor, for which its sturdy design copes easily with the higher speeds and bumps.
Despite receiving over 125 reviews on Amazon, this kayak still sports a rating of 4.1 out of 5 on Amazon. You’ll find some people complaining about the lack of space, but look closer and they’re probably trying to fit three passengers onboard, or similar. It’s the kind of kayak that inspires you to test its limits!
The only downside is the weight, but even that means it is not super thin and delicate. This is by far the most stable kayak I have ever been in. It also goes straight as an arrow in the water.
