Product Review
The Point 65 Martini Kayak is a renowned rigid kayak. It earns its credit by being a high performing day touring kayak, which can be converted into both solo and tandem setups. Being modular, it will fit into a reasonably-sized family car, and it can be dismantled and re-assembled in only a few seconds.
Pros of Point 65 Martini Kayak
- Clever modular design for use in solo and tandem modes
- Very comfortable and stable
- Quick and easy to assemble / disassemble
- Easy to transport
Cons of Point 65 Martini Kayak
- Somewhat heavy / slow
- Hard to stay dry
- After-sales support from Point 65 doesn’t always deliver
Best Feature
There’s clearly one major advantage with the Martini 65 – it’s modular design. The fact that this kayak can be used solo or as a tandem gives is a clear advantage over its fixed-bodied competitors. Yes, there may be compromises in weight and speed, but we think it’s worth it.
Worst Feature
Aside from the kayak’s weight and possibly the price tag, there really isn’t much to hate. One customer complains of multiple hairline fractures in his Martini, so that’s something to watch out for.
My Personal Tips
If you’d rather avoid owning more than one kayak – perhaps for reasons of budget or space – then the Martini 65 really does solve a multitude of problems. If you’re a man, you’ll probably ignore this, but it really is worth looking at the instructions on how the snap-tap system works. OK, I said it – now I’ll shut up.
Customer Reviews
The Point 65’s modest 3.2 rating on Amazon really doesn’t do it justice (it’s almost wholly due to one very negative review, so have a read before you’re put off). We think it’s closer to a 5-star kayak. Highly recommended.
Absolutely love this, fits in my car I don’t have to struggle to put it on top. Very easy to assemble! I’d buy it again in a heartbeat

Summary
Point 65’s unique snap-tap system makes it both easy and convenient to assemble and disassemble this kayak, which makes for easy transportation and easy switching between solo and tandem set-ups. This is a system which helps to dismantle it into sections making it easier to transport. The seating arrangement is comfortable, the storage is ample (enough for a small overnight bag in the rear compartment), and its integrated, but removable, rudder system means it can be steered using your feet inside the cockpit. All of these features combine to give the angler a nice amount of control and comfort both paddling and while fishing.
